You might have gathered that Bibliostrumpet is a book review blog. I read books; I write about them. I turned my habit into a blog with a weird name.

As you’ll see from my handy dictionary definitions over on the right, biblio is Greek for book (or books, whatever) and a strumpet is a prostitute or promiscuous woman. I am none of these things; I’m just a girl who loves to read, and who does it a lot with many different books. The sexual analogy was just crying out for acknowledgment. (Also, the name bookslut was taken; a very fine site it is, too.)

I work at an independent bookshop, where I routinely pour my wages back into the till. I am excellent for business, if nothing else. When I’m not ear-bashing customers about my favourite books, I’m attempting to eke out a living as a writer and editor. You can find out more about my writing and editing work on my website.

One day, I hope to reach the bottom of my Books to Read pile*.

*This will probably never happen. I’m OK with that.

The public can be deeply wearying. I hope you’ll take a look at my new book about working across the till (cash wrap here), “Malled.”

I love the blog name and the header image! Very imaginative I think. You really write good reviews. I have enjoyed myself!

I think it was the photo that hooked me – those shiny lips, big jewelry, and of course that bad girl cigarette. Love your reviews too!
